Sr. Patricia Murray ibvm
Executive Secretary of the Rome-based International Union of Superiors General (UISG), a native of Ireland with extensive global experience.
"Courageous leaders have a clear purpose and a vision and as sisters our vision and purpose comes from our faith commitment and our vowed life of service for the good of others. Our Gospel vision means that we want to create the conditions so that every person can live a full and dignified life. We are with the people, we don’t exclude anyone and we don’t leave when violence, conflict and civil unrest breakout."
Sr. Mary John Kudiyiruppil, SSpS
Associate Executive Secretary of UISG and a native of India, where she has served for many years.
"Courageous leadership is risk taking, starts at the grassroots. Courageous leadership is not always the most visible or recognizable style of leadership.
Today we realize that big changes cannot happen only by addressing urban needs. Religious sisters often have first-hand knowledge of small local communities; they are often closer to the struggles, needs and strengths of small hidden away communities."
