We are delighted to share the joyous news of Sr. Simona Brambilla's historic appointment as the first female Prefect of a Vatican Dicastery, Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. This landmark achievement is a moment of immense pride and inspiration for women in the Church and for all women religious around the world.

Sr. Simona Brambilla's unwavering dedication, deep faith, and exemplary service have led her to this significant milestone. Her appointment is a testament to the invaluable contributions of women to the life and mission of the Church. We believe her leadership will bring transformative change and new perspectives to the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life and to the broader ecclesial community.

The International Union of Superiors General (UISG) extends our heartfelt congratulations to Sr. Simona. We assure her of our prayers and steadfast support as she embarks on this new chapter of her ministry. We also express our gratitude to Pope Francis for his continued leadership in the Church, showing by example how many possibilities there are for women to contribute to leadership in the Church.

We also welcome with joy the appointment of Cardinal Angel Fernandez Artime SDB as the Pro-Prefect of the same dicastery.
