Hope in Action: Between Faith, Joy, and Responsibility
Hope in Action: Between Faith, Joy, and Responsibility
As announced in recent weeks, the XXIII UISG Plenary Assembly will be held from 5 to 9 May 2025 in Rome at the Ergife Palace Hotel and the theme chosen is ‘Consecrated Life: a hope that transforms.'
We asked the sisters for a personal reflection on the theme of hope: what does ‘hope that transforms’ mean? How does hope transform the sisters' daily lives? What are their hopes related to the upcoming Assembly?
Here is the testimony of Sister Doris Lamontagne, Superior General of the Little Franciscans of Mary
1. What does “a hope that transforms” mean to me?
‘Hope in the Lord’ says Psalm 26. Hope based on God is a source of transformation.
At the crossroads of my being tested by the limits of human hopes, in God alone I can stay the course and hold on to Hope. His grace moves me inwardly and fixes me on what is essential.
2. How does hope transform my daily life as a consecrated woman? As Superior General?
Hope drawn from the One who gives me strength and courage in the crossings keeps me in tension so that I can accept daily life, act responsibly and assume my human destiny with the joy of living. It maintains the depths of my being in a profound peace that nothing can shake.
3. What are my hopes linked to the next UISG Plenary Assembly?
The experience of the UISG Plenary Assembly is a time for sharing. It brings to life the experience of universal fraternity carried by women who are united in the same desire to love, serve and follow Christ according to their different charisms.
