Hope is linked to the resurrection
Hope is linked to the resurrection
As announced in recent weeks, the XXIII UISG Plenary Assembly will be held from 5 to 9 May 2025 in Rome at the Ergife Palace Hotel and the theme chosen is ‘Consecrated Life: a hope that transforms.'
We asked the sisters for a personal reflection on the theme of hope: what does ‘hope that transforms’ mean? How does hope transform the sisters' daily lives? What are their hopes related to the upcoming Assembly?
We share with you the testimony of Sr. Cecile Marion, Superior General
What does ‘a hope that transforms’ mean to me?
Hope is a way of looking at life, it keeps us going, getting us through difficulties and anxieties. With hope, everything remains possible, nothing is set in stone. Unlike illusion - ‘everything will be all right’ - it helps me to live in the present, while opening the door to a beyond where what is not yet unified becomes one. Hope is linked to the Resurrection.
How does hope transform my daily life - as a consecrated woman and/or as a Superior General?
Hope makes me see what is hidden: behind all the shortcomings that I deplore, there is beauty, buds... that are not what I expect. Hope ‘moves’ me: my tendency to get depressed, my view of each sister changes. God is there, working. Hope? God's faithfulness!
What are my hopes for the next UISG Plenary Assembly?
- An experience of the Church in all its diversity and an awareness of the challenges it faces.
- A global outlook.
- Speakers who help us to grow in this hope.
- The synodal practice of spiritual conversation!
