In the context of institutional ecclesial communication, we are faced with a complex challenge arising from the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI). During this webinar, we will explore the reflections emerged in recent decades in this field, with particular attention to the pronouncements of the last three Pontiffs - Saint John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis - and the initiatives promoted by some institutions of the Holy See, such as the Pontifical Academies for Sciences and Social Sciences or the Pontifical Academy for Life. With Professor Giovanni Tridente, we will explore the possibility of identifying practical guidelines that can guide each person of goodwill in the immediate future, while trying to understand at the same time the complex ethical dilemmas and opportunities offered by AI also in ecclesial communication.

Pope Francis, in the message for the 57th World Day of Peace on January 1, 2024, emphasized the need to reflect on the consequences (in the medium and long term) of new digital technologies, as well as their impact on the lives of individuals and societies. Father Tiziano Tosolini's intervention will focus on the "paradigm shift" brought about by recent developments in AI, on what aspects should be considered to trust AI, and on the new reflections/questions it raises from a theological and religious perspective.
