UISG - USG Document: Contributions for the Synod on the Synodality

In a significant move towards shaping the future of the Catholic Church, the International Union of Superiors General (UISG) and the Union of Superiors General (USG) have released their 2024 contribution to the ongoing discussion on "How To Be A Church In Mission?"

This collaborative effort responds to questions posed by the General Secretariat of the Synod on March 14, 2024, reflecting a global perspective from religious leaders worldwide.

The contribution synthesizes responses from UISG and USG members across the globe, organized into five key themes:

  • Co-Responsibility for Mission;
  • Authority, Governance and Participation;
  • Unity in Diversity;
  • Participation of Women in the Life and Mission of the Church;
  • Renewal and Strengthening of Ministries and Participatory Bodies to better express Co-Responsibility for Mission.

The UISG and USG leadership and the Synodal Commitment Initiative Coordinator expressed gratitude to all members who dedicated time to reflect, pray, and respond to the questions.

This contribution marks an important step in the ongoing Synodal process, demonstrating the commitment of religious orders to actively participate in shaping the Church's future.

As the global Catholic community continues to engage in this dialogue, the perspectives offered by the UISG-USG contribution are expected to play a vital role in guiding discussions and decisions moving forward. The release of this document underscores the importance of diverse voices in the Church's mission and highlights the collaborative spirit driving the Synodal Journey.

As the Church continues to navigate challenges and opportunities in the 21st century, such contributions from religious leaders worldwide will be instrumental in fostering a more dynamic and responsive Catholic community.
