The International Union of Superiors General (UISG) is pleased to announce the organization of a free online course titled “Leadership in Difficult Times,” which will explore the influence of women who have led with hope and courage in times of adversity.

The course will be held in two sessions, offering valuable insights into leadership through the lives of extraordinary female saints.

The first session, led by Professor Donna Orsuto, will take place on February 10 and 11, 2025, and will delve into the lives and writings of the Four Women Doctors of the Church, with a particular focus on St. Teresa of Avila and St. Catherine of Siena. Professor Orsuto will highlight how their spiritual teachings can guide today's religious leaders:

“The lives and writings of these women, especially St. Teresa and St. Catherine, offer a powerful source of inspiration for those today who are called to serve others in difficult times. Their reflections on living the Gospel with courage and simplicity are timeless.”

The second session, taking place on March 10 and 11, 2025, will be led by Sr. Estrella Rodriguez FMVD. During this session, Sr. Rodriguez will focus on St. Edith Stein (St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross), exploring her extraordinary journey from Jewish philosopher to Carmelite nun and martyr, highlighting her courage, wisdom, and compassion in the face of deep obstacles. The legacy of St. Edith Stein continues to offer valuable lessons on integrating faith and reason, while maintaining a strong commitment to justice and truth.

The course aims to provide practical tools for reflective and effective leadership, drawing on the inspiring examples of these saints. In this Jubilee Year, as we are called to be “pilgrims of hope,” their lives can have a significant impact on the Church and society.

The sessions will be held February 10 & 11 | March 10 & 11, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Rome time)
