On behalf of the International Union of Superiors General, Sr. Mary Barron expresses our deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolences at the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. We stand united in mourning this immense loss with the global Catholic community—a loss not only for our religious communities but for the entire world.

Pope Francis's life was a radiant testimony of service, humility, mercy, and a profound love for all of creation. His enduring commitment to inclusivity, justice, and care for those rejected by society those who struggle on the margins,  has deeply inspired us to live more fully the Gospel call to love and service.

We are profoundly grateful for his spiritual guidance, which has strengthened all religious communities worldwide in their mission to embody Christ’s teachings.  His voice for peace, justice, compassion, and ecological care will continue to echo in our hearts and actions.

In his Urbi et Orbi message just yesterday he called for peace and reconciliation in conflict-ridden regions, including Gaza, the Middle East, and other parts of the world. He urged the global community to embrace compassion, unity, and respect for all human life, from the unborn to the elderly and marginalized. With his going home to God, may  his heart-felt calls for an end to all violence be heard more clearly and come to fruition.

As we honour his legacy, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing the values he cherished so dearly. We pray for the eternal repose of Pope Francis’s soul. May he rest in perfect peace.
